Matching Village Hall (formally the Institute Hall) was built in 1922 and opened by Mrs Gerald Buxton, OBE on Saturday 21st October.

Whilst today the hall is used for many purposes, back in 1939-45 it was requisitioned for use by the Home Guard.  In 1960 the Trustees, Committee and Members of the Women's Institute agreed to hand over the Institute Hall to the Parish Council and that it should be a Village Hall with a Management Committee.

Today, the Committee consists of Jean Prevost (Chair), Shaun Firth (Vice Chair), Bob Barnes (Treasurer), Stephanie Webb (Secretary), Representatives from local organisations (Don Cramphorn - Hall Management, Sarah Cass - Farmer's Market, Eugine Simpson - Matching Parish Council, Hilma Summerfield - Matching Ladies Club, Jenny Reed - Matching Friendly Club, Martin Figg - Matching Green Cricket Club, Donna Pike - Bluebell Forest School, Chris Gibson - The Fox Inn) and Co-Opted Members (Gerald Springham, Paul Moulds, Michael Taylor).

Many local organisations now use the Village Hall on a regular basis and cover activities such as karate, ballroom dancing, pre-school, dog training, yoga and also our very successful monthly Farmer's Market.  Click here to see a full list of our Regular Bookings and here for details on our Farmer's Market.

The Village Hall is also available to hire for ad-hoc events, such as wedding receptions, children's birthday parties, AGMs, adult parties, engagement parties etc.  Visit our Contact page to get in touch for details on how to hire the Village Hall and how much it costs to hire.

The Village Hall now has free wifi!  Click on the picture at the top left of this page to see how to get connected.
