​THE FOX GOLF SOCIETY

​Welcome to the new Fox Golf Society website.

 

Following several years of casual golfing events The Fox Golf Society was formed in February 2010 to provide a more organised framework for the ever increasing number of local residents playing golf on a regular basis.  In addition, many regulars at The Fox Inn felt the Society could act as a vehicle to continue the considerable charitable efforts of the late Chris Gibson, landlord of The Fox Inn, a keen supporter of several golf societies.

The first meeting was held on 11th February 2010 when over 20 regulars met in The Fox and elected a Committee and agreed the way forward.

There are now currently some 40 (odd!) members, with the majority coming from within the Matching Parish.  ​Since 2010, The Fox Golf Society has played over 88 events and donated, not over £37,000 to 22 charities. The main beneficiary has been St Clare Hospice, with £11,342 donated in total (£8,000 of which was raised at 'Dave's Day' on September 11th 2020 - our most successful event ton date). Other beneficiaries are Brest Cancer Now (where £6,100 was raised on 1 November 2024 at our annual Turkey Shoot match), Crohns Care, Harlow Moors Charity, Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, Matching Pre-School, St Elizabeth's, Matching Church, Matching Friendly Club, Multiple Sclerosis and YMCA, to name but a few.  Click here for full details of our charity donations.
